On Veterans Day, we didn’t have any classes so some of my friends and I decided to go for a hike nearby! We decided to do the Blevins Trail at Usery Mountain Regional Park. This trail is a 3.1 mile loop and is on relatively even ground. If you’re into mountain biking this is probably a good trail for that! There were a bunch of mountain bikers that passed us on this trail. We even passed by a guy on a one wheel hoverboard! I’m surprised that the hoverboard was able to work in the sandy path and not get stuck, but the guy seemed to be doing okay!

Usery Mountain Regional Park is stunning. As we walked the Blevins Trail, we were surrounded by hundreds of saguaro cacti! They were hugeee and must’ve been hundreds of years old. We were trying to figure out how old the cacti were but I don’t believe we ever figured it out haha.
Near the end of the trail, there was an outdoor gym under a pavilion. I’d never seen an outdoor gym before so that was super unique! The machines didn’t have weights but you could still adjust their resistance, I’m not too sure how it worked but I think one of my friends figured it out.

After our hike we stopped at Heaven on a Spoon, which is a family owned gelato spot in Mesa, Arizona. It had been about a year since my last visit and that morning they had texted me a coupon for Veterans Day so I knew I needed to stop by!
The guy who owns it is very passionate about his craft, which makes it that much more enjoyable! I believe I had a scoop of the peanut butter chocolate gelato and the strawberry cheesecake gelato, coincidentally I made a PB&J with my flavors! My gelato was sooo good, better than my first time there! If you haven’t tried Heaven on a Spoon then you are severely missing out.
