Watching the Sunset over Onondaga Lake in Syracuse, New York

Ughhh I miss concert season sooooo much!!!! Don’t you?! I enjoyed seeing my favorite country singers come to my home town, Syracuse, New York, to put on a show for us all. These really were the best days. I’ve seen Jason Aldean, Thomas Rhett, A Thousand Horses, Luke Bryan, Jon Pardi, and SO many more here!!

One thing that remained the same throughout every concert was the AMAZING sunset over the lake! I mean just look at these pictures, how can a night get any better?

Well, I’m sitting here reminiscing on those times, wishing I was singing my heart out to my favorite songs with my favorite people, realizing I can still experience a part of those nights. I can go see the sunset at the amphitheater!

The St. Joseph’s Health Lakeview Amphitheater, aka the Lakeview Amphitheater, is technically still open to the public, even though there aren’t any concerts going on at the moment due to the pandemic. You can either park in the parking lot you normally would for concerts or you can drive across the bridge from Onondaga Lake Parkway.

If you park where you would for the concerts, this would be called the Orange Lot, or West Shore Trail-South Entrance. I’m not sure where the actual entrance to the amphitheater is from the orange lot, because where you would normally enter for the concerts is gated off. But, my friend and I were walking along the gated perimeter and there was a section of the gate torn down, so we entered there :)

If you choose to park across from Long Branch Park, this is called the East Shore Trail-North Entrance. This trail is about 4.5 miles long, so be sure to wear good walking sneakers!

The coordinates for both entrances will be listed at the bottom of this post!!

When my friend Ally and I watched the sunset here a couple weeks back, we were flooded with memories from the concerts in the past years. Ugh, memories. That’s all we have during times like these!

Here are some pics from the sunset that night!

Syracuse, you really do be beautiful sometimes :)

This is also a great place to go for a run or pack a picnic and enjoy a lunch! It is usually pretty quiet here, especially at the time of sunset since most people forget you can come here!

Location

Here are the coordinates for the locations mentioned above!
West Shore Trail – North Entrance (from Long Branch Park) : 43.116, -76.246
West Shore Trail – South Entrance (orange lot) : 43.074, -76.201
