Day Trip to Ithaca: Ludlowville Falls

2 minutes

Ludlowville Falls is located in Lansing, NY, just north of Ithaca. What I love about Ludlowville Falls is the fact that it’s literally in people’s backyards but it still feels very tranquil. Yes, it is open to the public as well!

In this blog, I’m going to share how to find this lesser-known waterfall near Ithaca, New York!

How to Find Ludlowville Falls

You can access this waterfall by parking your car in the small parking lot for Ludlowville Park. This is a great destination for those who are unable to do much hiking because there is a great view from the top that you can access directly from Ludlowville Park! You can view it from the top or there is a path to the right of the gazebo that will take you down to the bottom. I’m not sure if swimming is allowed here, however, I definitely want to come back to swim because I think it’s a great spot to relax and enjoy the sun!

The first time I visited Ludlowville Falls, my friend and I totally drove right past it (since the location was basically someone’s backyard) and we came across this super cute red bridge. We kept driving past the bridge for a little bit until we decided we were going the wrong direction and turned back around. We decided to stop and the bridge to take pictures, and since it was snowing they turned out super pretty!

Ludlowville Falls, in a way, reminds me of Niagara Falls because of its shape. It has a similar horseshoe bend to it that Niagara Falls is known, and nicknamed, for. Clearly it lacks the amount of power, width and height of Niagara Falls, but you can use your imagination 🙂
