Great Gully in Union Springs, New York

No, not New York City! There is way more to New York than the Big Apple! I have lived in Upstate NY my whole life and have only been to the city four times. That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy it (because I had a blast each time) but I have paved my way through New York to find out what else it has to offer.

In the winter, we get hit with Nor’Easters. In the summer it gets so humid so I spend as much time in the water that I can. In the fall we have the beautiful leaves changing colors on the trees. And in the spring, animals make their way back into our lives, with squirrels running in front of our cars again and birds make their nests all around our house.

Wow. I can’t believe I just wrote so many pleasant things about New York! (And I’m not being sarcastic.) This is shocking to me because when people ask me if I like my hometown or ask me what there is to do, I chuckle. In Syracuse, if it’s winter time then it’s basketball season baby! For fun we all turn on our TV’s or head to the dome for a game. Besides that, there isn’t much to do.

I’ve spent a lot of time trying to find stuff to keep me busy, and I eventually found out that I love going on road trips and eating at local dives. It gave me something to do. And I love driving. I mean driving for miles, windows down on a hot day, screaming the words to my favorite song… it doesn’t get much better than that! I hope you find learn something new about New York through my blog and see the beauty in it that I do :)
