Where to Go Blueberry Picking in Central New York

It’s that time of summer when blueberries are ready to harvest! I always happen to miss strawberry picking season because I think about it on the last day of harvesting, but that reminds me it’s time to pick blueberries.

Last year, I went blueberry picking at Stan’s Berry Patch off of County Route 84 in West Monroe, New York. We went around 10am and had a whole row to ourselves for picking. It was a great spot to pick berries because they don’t use any pesticides, so we could eat them as we picked them!

We had brought out own bags to put the blueberries in, but we didn’t realize how serious blueberry pickers can be. At Stan’s Berry Patch, they had buckets available for us with rope to tie to our hips so we can pick with two hands and not have to worry about dropping the bucket. This was so convenient.

We picked 10 pounds of blueberries (it went by so fast) and then came back the next week to pick 10 more pounds!

We made blueberry smoothies, blueberry pancakes and waffles with a blueberry jam, blueberry muffins…. you’d think we were going to turn into Violet from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Fun fact: New York is the 10th largest state for growing blueberries!
