Weekend Day Trip To Saguaro Lake!
Going cliff jumping at Saguaro Lake is one of my favorite memories of this past semester. It was a very last minute plan for me. I almost didn’t go because I was worried about finishing my homework (even though it was a Saturday) and because I worked the next day – but I ended up having more than enough time to get everything done. It was also a cloudy day, and I was very cold at my apartment so I didn’t think it would be warm enough to go cliff jumping and not be freezing! The weather ended up being perfect.
As the morning went on, it warmed up to probably in the 80’s. There were still clouds in the sky when we were at Saguaro Lake but it didn’t seem to rain or ruin the day! Coming from New York, I am not a fan of clouds since our winter skies consist of grey clouds all of the time, but all of my friends from the west coast love the grey clouds and it makes them happy! Two very different perspectives!
Reaching Saguaro Lake
My friends and I took two cars and met up at the lake. The parking lot was very full, so the friends who drove dropped the rest of us off at the roundabout at the end of the parking lot and went to find parking. I felt bad because they were probably driving around for another 15-20 minutes before they each found a spot! The rest of us started hiking to the cliff jumping area.
The hike was super short and easy, you just have to maneuver your way through the trees and cacti and climb down some boulders. Once we reached the cliff jumping area, we joined about 25 other people. I was shocked at how many people were there since the weather wasn’t ideal!
Cliff Jumping
There are a few different cliffs you can jump from. I jumped from one of the smaller ones, but my some of my friends used that one as a warm up before they headed to the bigger ones! The smaller jump was still a decent size, I’m not sure exactly how high it was though. I was actually pretty nervous when I jumped which surprised me because I’ve been cliff jumping before and normally I’m the first one to jump in!

After we were there for a bit, a boat pulled up and put on a concert for everyone! This made me feel like I was in a movie because the singer was singing older songs, and it was in the background of everything going on. I took a video at one point, and I thought it turned out pretty cool but then when I played it back later, I realized the singer wasn’t actually that good! I think in the moment, the songs matched the vibe at the lake so it didn’t even occur to me that he couldn’t sing!

After we were done cliff jumping and hanging out in the water, my friends and I hiked up the cliff we were at to get a better view of the lake. It was stunning from the top. No one else was up there, so it was a really cool perspective to be looking over the lake and everyone below us.

Post Cliff Jumping Meal
On our way back to campus, we stopped at In-N-Out to grab some burgers! In-N-Out is definitely my favorite thing to eat after going hiking or exploring. It’s pretty cheap and always satisfies my hunger. I’m currently writing this blog back home in New York right now, and I can’t wait for more adventures that wind up at In-N-Out at the end!
This little day trip was just what I needed. It was a perfect break from constantly doing school work and working, and I was able to relax and clear my mind. Hopefully I can go back again as soon as the weather starts to heat up again!
