This sunset spot is such a gem because you can enjoy the sky changing colors over the farm from the comfort of your own car!
It’s located in Manlius, New York, which is about 15 miles east of Syracuse. It took a little bit to actually find this spot. All we had to go off of was a map from Instagram with the location labeled as “Top of the World”. The name “Top of the World” wasn’t in Apple maps, and we didn’t have any coordinates to use so we were basically finding this spot the old fashioned way!
When we were nearing the sunset spot, we discovered a hidden trail off the side of a road that led to this field. I personally think this spot might have been better to watch the sunset from, however we wanted to find where everyone was going!

Eventually we drove upon a line of about three cars on the side of the road. Yes, this sunset spot is literally on the side of the road! It makes for easy access. However if you end up being the first one there you may be unaware that you’ve arrived!
Personally, I recommend arriving to watch any sunset at least 30 minutes prior to the sun crossing the horizon. You can figure out when that will be by checking your local weather app. So, the sun sets at a specific time, but that does not mean the sunset is over and you should leave. In my opinion, that’s when it’s getting started! I’ve found that some of the prettiest colors of the sky come out after the sun has set, so stick around a few extra minutes, it’s worth it.
After the sunset my friends and I got ice cream at Snotop and it was super good. I definitely recommend making your way over after the sun sets. It wasn’t too far away, maybe 10 minutes tops. Leave a comment if you’ve been to this sunset spot!
