The Sunset at Salmon River Falls in Upstate New York

Lately during quarantine, I’ve been trying to discover new places to watch the sunset in Central New York! I don’t remember how I came up with watching the sunset at Salmon River Falls because I haven’t heard of anyone coming here to watch the sunset in the past. But anyways, I did a little bit of research by looking at Salmon River Falls on Apple Maps and seeing where the west was in relation to the falls. The west was directly across from the falls so I figured it would be a nice sunset!

My dad and I got ice cream before the sunset at our favorite spot in Pulaski, called Colossal Ice Cream. We’ve been going to this ice cream shop since I was little! It was on the way home from one of our favorite spots to go camping, Southwick, and my siblings and I were always passed out it the car we we’d arrive.

This isn’t the best spot to watch the sunset in Upstate New York, check out my sunset link in the menu at the top of this page for other ideas! However, this is a great spot to enjoy a relaxing evening with a loved one!

I suggest packing a picnic to enjoy at the top of the waterfall as the sun starts to set. The water falling in the background is very peaceful and will leave you feeling rejuvenated. You most likely won’t see any pretty colors dance across the sky as the sun sets due to a bunch of trees covering the horizon, but if you pack up your picnic around the time the sun is supposed to set and drive west, you’ll be able to see the pretty colors across the farms near by!
