Skaneateles is one of my favorite little towns in all of New York State. The drive out here is always so peaceful, and the town has so much charm. Normally, I spend my time here browsing the shops and enjoying the restaurants, but this time I decided to switch it up and explore one of the waterfalls here in Skaneateles!

In this blog, I’m going to share how to find Carpenter Falls in Skaneateles, New York! This is the perfect adventure for a little day trip during the summers here in Upstate.
Finding Carpenter Falls
Carpenter Falls is about a 15 minute drive from the town of Skaneateles, on the western side of the lake. Following the coordinates below, you will reach a small parking lot off of State Route 41A and Appletree Pt.
Address: 42.812, -76.343 (Skaneateles, NY)
The hike to Carpenter Falls from the parking lot wasn’t long, however, it wasn’t the best path which made it difficult to walk at times. I had worn flip flops, but as you can imagine they aren’t the best footwear, so I gave up on them about halfway to the falls and just went barefoot. It’s definitely best to wear Chacos or sneakers!
Once you reach the waterfall you can either hangout at its base or continue hiking downstream. I tagged this as a waterfall where you can swim but it isn’t deep enough to do so. However you can wade in the shallow water, which is what my friends and I did!

This is also a great location to have a picnic! My friends and I broke out my classic nutella sandwiches for our lunch. After we ate, we walked down along the stream for a little bit, it was very serene!
After Carpenter Falls we tried to find Guppy Falls nearby. I believe we found it, but we didn’t have a great view point, as you can see in the picture to the right. If you want to visit Guppy Falls I would recommend going after a rainfall to ensure a bigger waterfall! Here is the location for Guppy Falls: 42.967, -76.395.
